of Rescued Wildlife

help us protect these animals

All of the exotic and abandoned wildlife at Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary cannot be released into the wild. On a daily basis, all of our animals need to be fed and many of them require special veterinary care and medications. Our sanctuary is in the process of making many repairs and needs constant maintenance. You can help us support the livelihood of these animals by sponsoring an animal today.

Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama has been with us for about 34 years now. Jim, our Director of Animal Care, bought him to help scare away predators. We are unable to take in any more llamas until a perimeter fence (which we are currently seeking donations for) is put up to keep them off the roads, away from the neighbors and on our property.

Rachel

Rachel

Rachel is a very sweet Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig. She’s about 3 years old and was brought to us by her former owner once she became too big to care for. Recently, she had 5 piglets that live at the sanctuary with her. Like most pigs, she (and her piglets) will eat all day long if we let them. We are always accepting donations to help feed her and her piglets!

Starbuck

Starbuck

Years after Dalai Lama arrived at the sanctuary, Jim adopted a female llama who gave birth to their son, Starbuck, who still lives at the sanctuary with Dalai Lama. Starbuck eats all kinds of grains, fruits, hay and cracked corn. He also likes to visit the neighbors and get lots of attention from visitors. We are currently seeking donations to build a perimeter fence to keep Starbuck from wandering off the property and into danger.

Murdock

Murdock

Murdock is a beautiful blue and gold 45 year-old macaw. She was given to Jim, our Director of Animal Care, by one of his high school friends that could no longer care for her. She talks a bit, but doesn’t too frequently. At times, macaws tend to scream more than they talk. We have one macaw that likes to say, “Go Gators!” Unfortunately, macaws usually outlive their owners which results in abandonment.
